Reddit strategy: answer questions until people find you

Answer the question so well that your product becomes the obvious next step.

The play

Pick five subreddits where your buyer already asks for help, and answer questions there. That is the whole play. Not posts about your product, not a launch announcement, not a clever hook. Answers so complete that the person asking says thank you, and the fifty people who read it later go looking for who wrote it.

Reddit is inverted from every other platform. Everywhere else you get rewarded for talking about yourself. Here you get removed for it. The upside is that the bar is expertise, not volume, and you already have the expertise. You built the thing.

So the shape is: get the word out by answering instead of announcing. Capture the interest with a profile that does the job a link does elsewhere. Don't lose it by actually seeing the DM that shows up nine days later, because on Reddit interest arrives slowly and dies quietly.

What this platform is actually good at

Reddit is a search engine with a community attached. Threads rank in Google, stay live for years, and get read by hundreds of people who never comment. The real distribution is not the day you post. It is the two years after.

  • Strength: intent. Someone asking "what should I use for X" in a subreddit is closer to buying than anyone scrolling a feed.
  • Strength: longevity. A good answer keeps pulling qualified people long after it falls off the front page.
  • Strength: credibility transfers. Being the person who explained the thing clearly beats anything you could pay for there.
  • Limit: zero tolerance for promotion. Links get removed, accounts get banned, and mods do not owe you an appeal.
  • Limit: no automated DMs and no fast feedback loop. You cannot brute-force volume here the way you can on X or LinkedIn.

Write for the person who finds it in three years

Your best Reddit comment is not really read by the thread. It is read by strangers arriving from Google months later, one at a time, already looking for exactly what you explained. Write every answer so it stands on its own without the thread around it.

Get the word out

Pick five subreddits. Read the rules of each one twice. Some ban links outright, some ban self-promotion in any form, and some run a weekly self-promo thread that is the only legal door. Then sort by New and start answering. That is your outbound.

Realistic cadence for one person: fifteen minutes a day. Reddit does not reward a burst. It rewards a username that keeps showing up in the same five places.

  1. Answer five questions properly. 150 to 300 words each, specific, with the actual steps, no link.
  2. Post one genuinely useful thing: a teardown, a process you ran, a mistake that cost you, numbers from your own work.
  3. Reply to every comment on your own post within the first two hours. That window decides whether the thread lives.
  4. Drop into two threads where you disagree with the top answer and explain why, politely, with your reasoning shown.
  5. Post in the weekly promo or "what are you building" thread in the one or two subreddits that have one. That is where a link is allowed.
  6. Read one new subreddit's rules, then add or drop a subreddit based on what you find.

Capture the interest

On Reddit the link is almost never the call to action. Your profile is. Write it like a landing page: who you are, what you do, and your Aura Store link. After a good answer, people click your username. That click is your funnel and it is allowed in every subreddit.

When a link is allowed, it should answer the question rather than sell. And the strongest call to action on Reddit is not a call to action at all. It is an offer to keep helping.

  • "Happy to go deeper on the pricing part. Reply here or DM me, either works."
  • "I wrote this exact process out for myself. Not linking it in a comment because of the rules here, it's on my profile if you want it."
  • "Disclosure, I build a tool in this space. Ignore that for a second, here's how I'd do it manually first. You may never need the tool."
  • "What's your current volume? The answer changes a lot under 50 a day versus over."

That last one matters most. A question back turns a one-shot answer into a thread, and a thread is already a conversation. You never have to ask for one.

Don't lose it

Reddit interest arrives late. Someone reads your answer nine days after you wrote it, checks your profile, and sends a DM. If your reply lands a week after that, they have forgotten which comment sent them.

What goes wrong on Reddit is simpler than a slow inbox: you stop opening the site at all. DMs and comment replies sit in a place you do not check, the volume is low enough that you stop checking, and then the one message that mattered rots there. Fix it with a fixed daily time, not with willpower.

Aura Blaster does not send Reddit DMs. What it does: Blast Queue items deep-link you straight to the compose surface, so replying is one click instead of a tab hunt, and "Remind me" puts the follow-up back in front of you on the day you chose. When the conversation moves to a channel you have connected, Magic Queue picks it up with a drafted reply held for your approval. Nothing sends without a human, which is exactly the safety you want coming off the platform where one marketing-flavored reply costs you the account.

Follow-up cadence: one nudge, four to seven days later, and it has to add something rather than ask again.

Set it up in Aura Blaster

There is almost nothing to configure. What decides this channel is your Persona and whether you actually show up daily.

  1. Open Channels and save your Reddit username. The connection is handle-based, so that is all it takes to start.
  2. To auto-publish, create a Reddit app in your Reddit account settings and authorize posting. After that Aura Blaster submits posts through Reddit's API. Every post needs a subreddit and a title, and Reddit rejects it without both, so set the target subreddit when you schedule.
  3. Fill in Persona: what you sell, who it is for, how you talk, your objection handling, and your purchase link. Voice matters more on Reddit than anywhere else, and Persona is what stops a draft from reading like a press release.
  4. In Strategy, set an honest posting frequency and your goal. If you are not going to work Reddit weekly, exclude it there rather than half-doing it.
  5. Work the Blast Queue one item at a time. Reddit items arrive platform-tagged with a draft you edit before it goes anywhere, and they deep-link to the right surface: the thread, the subreddit, the DM.
  6. Hit "Remind me" on any Reddit item you cannot do right now. It resurfaces on the Calendar alongside your scheduled posts.
  7. Put your Aura Store link in your Reddit profile. Not in your comments.

What kills it

Six mistakes account for nearly every Reddit failure, and none of them take a minute to avoid.

  • Dropping your link in a comment before reading the subreddit rules. Mods remove it and your account picks up a flag, so read the rules first and let your profile carry the link.
  • Writing a pitch wearing a helpful hat. Write the answer that would be complete if you had no product, then decide whether a mention still adds anything.
  • Posting the same thing across eight subreddits. Spam filters catch that fast, so pick the one subreddit where it fits and write it for those people specifically.
  • Hiding that you built the thing. Say it in one clause, because someone will check your profile and finding it themselves turns you into a spammer.
  • Going quiet after your post lands. The first two hours of replies decide whether the thread lives, so block that time before you hit publish.
  • Batching Reddit into one long Sunday session. The questions worth answering are in the last twelve hours of New, so fifteen minutes a day beats three hours a week.

Your first two weeks

One thing at a time. Work straight down the list — every line is a single move you can finish today, and none of them needs the one under it to be done first.

  • Save your Reddit username on the Channels page.
  • Pick five subreddits where your buyer asks for help, and read every rule page.
  • Fill out Persona with your voice, your offer, your objection handling, and your purchase link.
  • Rewrite your Reddit profile like a landing page and put your Aura Store link in it.
  • Answer five questions this week with no link at all.
  • Create a Reddit app and authorize posting so Aura Blaster can publish for you.
  • Schedule one post with the subreddit and title set, and stay online for two hours after it lands.
  • Ask a question back in every answer you write.
  • Hit "Remind me" on any Blast Queue item you cannot do today.
  • Check Reddit DMs and comment replies at the same time every day, and reply in your own voice.
